As I’m writing this March 2026 Newsletter, I realized that it would be so easy to withdraw from all that is happening in the world. To protect my heart and be safe and secure in my small, but familiar world. But, as someone once wrote: Ships are safe at harbor, but that is not what ships were built for.
I believe we are all exactly where we need to be. As someone once shared with me: “I’ve decided to live my life away from all this anguish and hatred and to just have a positive and peaceful life.” Of which I replied with compassion: “I’m sorry, Sarah. Life is just life. It is neither good nor bad. It is both. And if we decide, so much more.”
And so, here are my 2026 Resolutions for Change:
- Vote like the lives of you and your children depend on it.
- Keep the conversation going by listening and responding with curiosity and empathy.
- Model compassion and caring, as well as forgiveness and taking responsibility.
- Connect with friends who also care and work towards change.
- Continue to be kind and present. Create communities where everyone is welcomed.
- Have faith that truth and kindness will prevail over fear and hatred.
- Remember, that all this cruelty, these lies and violence cannot be sustained. Love has always prevailed. Keep the faith. People are longing to be seen and understood.
- You can be scared and brave at the same time.
- Hope cannot be taken away from us. Just as no one can stop Spring from coming.
- As Mother Teresa once shared: Perhaps we have no peace because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.
