So many schools/workplaces teach about multiculturalism from a celebratory perspective and only as it relates to people of color, often failing to notice that Euro-Americans have not entered into the conversation or found a way to celebrate their own roots or traditions. Thus, it is no wonder that so many Euro-Americans see themselves only as “Americans” and everyone else as immigrants. In this intriguing and stimulating conversation on diversity, participants begin a journey of discovering who they truly are, where they came from, and what they need to learn about themselves and each other in order to truly become a multicultural community.
Through the use of films, personal stories, and experiential exercises, participants will:

- Understand how one’s personal and community history affects their self-esteem and sense of safety

- Understand how racial differences can affect relationships, communication and behaviors
- The Art of Listening & Responding cross-culturally
